Understanding eShram Card Payments
The eShram Card itself does not automatically credit money to every registered worker every month. Instead, payments are made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under specific government schemes or during announced relief programs. These are credited directly to the bank account you provided at the time of registration.
To receive any payment, your eShram card must be active, your bank account must be valid and linked, and you must be eligible under the specific scheme making the transfer.
Method 1: Check Payment Status via PFMS (Public Financial Management System)
The PFMS portal (pfms.nic.in) is the official government platform that tracks all DBT payments made under Central Government schemes.
- Visit pfms.nic.in in your browser.
- Click on "Know Your Payment" from the menu.
- Select your bank name from the dropdown list.
- Enter your bank account number and confirm it in the second field.
- Enter the word verification (CAPTCHA) shown.
- Click Search to view payment details.
If any government payment has been sent to your account under eShram-linked schemes, it will appear here with the date and amount.
Method 2: Check via Your Bank Account / Passbook
The simplest way to verify whether a payment has been received is to check your bank passbook or mobile banking app. DBT payments typically appear with a reference that includes scheme-related keywords. You can:
- Visit your bank branch and get a passbook update
- Use your bank's mobile banking app or internet banking
- Call your bank's customer care number and ask about recent credits
- Use an ATM mini-statement for recent transactions
Method 3: Check via the eShram Portal
- Visit eshram.gov.in
- Log in using your registered mobile number and OTP
- Go to your Profile / Dashboard section
- Look for any payment or scheme-related updates linked to your UAN
Why Is My eShram Payment Not Credited?
There are several common reasons why a payment may not have reached your account:
- Bank account not linked correctly: If you entered a wrong account number or IFSC code during registration, the transfer will fail.
- Account is inactive or dormant: Banks may freeze accounts with no transactions for a long period. Visit your bank branch to reactivate it.
- Aadhaar–bank seeding not done: Some DBT payments require your Aadhaar to be seeded (linked) with your bank account. Ask your bank to complete this.
- Registration details mismatch: If the name on your Aadhaar and bank account differ significantly, the transfer may be rejected.
- State scheme not yet announced: Some payment programs are state-specific and may not be active in your state yet.
What to Do If Your Payment Is Delayed
- First verify your bank account details on the eShram portal and correct any errors.
- Ensure your Aadhaar is seeded with your bank account.
- Contact the eShram helpline at 14434 for assistance.
- Visit your nearest CSC Centre for help resolving payment-related issues.
- Raise a grievance through the official eShram portal under the "Help / Grievance" section.
Important Reminders
Always be cautious of fraud messages or calls claiming to process eShram payments in exchange for fees. The government never charges workers for releasing payments. If in doubt, call the official helpline 14434.
